About

Guywire originated in my Dad's workshop over 10 years ago. It has grown and developed over the years, firstly with the addition of the adjustable range by my brother Pippin. Following this my brother and I started F3 Design. It was here we further developed and refined the adjustable range and added the multi-strand, rings and earrings. Guywire’s are now made in Lyttelton, New Zealand by my husband and I. We have added the now very popular Necklace range and carried on the Guywire family legacy!

The name was born through its connection to the materials used to make Guywire’s. Namely, the stainless steel wire with which in shipping and yachting terms is called a 'guy rope'. The name has stuck and independently of us has become an 'in the know' accessory.

Guywire Care:

To clean; generally, our best advice is to use your own oils (natural skin oils) and just rub the copper or brass between your fingers. You can use very fine wire wool if you would like to get them super shiny again but usually this sort of treatment is only required if they aren't worn very often or at all. We find the more you wear them the shinier they get!

Our only real advice for the longevity of our Guywire Adjustable Range is to try to AVOID playing with them like a fidget device.. ie open and close them often. This is often how they loosen up quicker than they should. Rather, pop them on and just leave them on, or just open them back up to take off at the end of the day etc. I swim, shower, exercise and sleep in mine!

And lastly, although this Jewellery range is made from Industrial, robust materials, if they are snagged on something sharp, or receive a hard hit on the wire, one of the stainless threads can break. So please be mindful that we cannot repair this damage.
